And so it begins

Postby Sarah93003 » Sat Oct 29, 2011 5:26 pm

Olav has purchased the first of what I hope to be many, many pedals. I've purchased the domain name, http://www.GearHeadPedals.com. I hope to make a wide variety of custom pedals. Everything has a beginning, so I reckon this may be mine. I've got a lot of work ahead but hope to have a website up soon. I'll start with Overdrive pedals, then add Fuzz, and so on. Each one will have an individual serial number. I'll have standard offerings, as well as custom pedals. Who knows, maybe they'll become collectable.

(for reference, here is a link to the first prototype: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4488)

Here's the first batch:

The prototype and first three Overdrive pedals. One of these is for Olav.

I would like to use a police car for the fuzz pedal. I like the looks of the 1959 Cadillac, but have concerns that the fins may get in the way.

This one I am quite undecided on. It is decorated for the LA Lakers and looks very nice. I bought it with the idea of deciding later what it will become.

I've taken my prototype to a couple of local music stores, including GC, and they are very interested in carrying them. I think there is a lot of potential. If anyone is interested in a pedal, please PM me and I will give the details.

Sarah, that is a cool series of photos! The '59 Caddie reminds me of the ECTO-1 Ghostbuster-mobile.

Does the engine lid on the Patrolcars open? Might want to use them 'backwards', so the tailfins don't get in the way?

One thing I forgot to ask Sarah and which doesn't show up in the pics or the video; does the beacon light come on when the pedal is switched 'ON'?

Thank you Jim! I love photographing these things!

olrnr, that's funny!

Olav, yes the red light comes on when it's on. There will be other surprises on your pedal.

Thank you Bob! My fingers are crossed.

Sarah, those look great! They kind of remind me of the wah pedal that Danelectro had a few years back--they came in a car-like housing too. They were cheaply-built, actually sounded pretty good, but were totally unreliable. Yours look a lot better--and I love the fuzz pedal in the police car housing! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Thank you! I've seen picture of the Danelectro pedal. When I started this my goal was to preserve as much of the beauty of the car as possible. I didn't want knobs sticking out all over, looking unnatural. That's the main reason the first one took me three months, I had to keep staring at it each night trying to figure out where to hide things.

I'm planning on a Wah pedal, most likely from a 1947 Ford COE. I'm debating whether to keep the cars in the "Hot Rod" era our venture into the "muscle car" era. I'll keep ya'll posted on the progress.
