Bassman 100 & Bandmaster project

Postby dubtrub » Fri Oct 22, 2010 7:44 pm

Just finished restoring a mid 70s Bassman 100 head for the bass player (my son Daren) in our newly formed four piece instrumental surf band, The Tsunami Surfers. When I started the project it had been stripped of tolex and recovered with some real nasty carpet with rusted chrome and black hardware. It had previously been dismantled and the top was put on backwards and was missing the back cover. I'm also cutting down a 1967 Bandmaster cabinet to Showman amp size setting it up with a pair of 15" Peavey Black Widow heavy duty bass speakers. The cabinet was a real beat up piece and was that oversized goofy looking CBS era thing. The speaker cab will be covered to match the head. I'll get some photo's of the speaker cabinet later.

Also, our rhythm guitar player just picked up a '65 Bandmaster that is pretty rough cosmetic condition. We'll be recovering it next week to match my '65 Bandmaster. Also it will have the aged grill cloth. Should look cool with those old piggybacks up on stage.

BTW, the Bassman was purchased at Artie's Front Porch Music last week. Thanks Artie!

Looks great! BTW, Daren should try jumping the channels - since there's no reverb they'll be in phase. It'll drive the power section more, which may (or may not) be to his taste.

Take some before pictures of the Bandmaster when it comes in!

If you didn't know it, it might as well be sparkling brand new, straight out of a store from the seventies 8-)
What's the story on the face plate, is it new or was it that good?!
You're the best Danny, I'm looking forward to see more pics as you progress in your amp project(s).

Danny, can you perform this magic with humans? I need to be refurbished, from what my wife has been telling me.
