ZacJM Cigar Box Guitar

Postby ZacJM » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:57 pm

I made one of these back in April for a Physics project when we were covering sound waves. The project was really rushed and I made it over a weekend very quickly, it was playable but pretty poor quality. I ended up giving to my science teacher who thought it was awesome. I made a second one that has taken weeks to do and I just finished it. Very cool looking, action is on the high side but I figure if I open tune it and get a slide and I can play some fun stuff on it:

Be sure to watch the whole thing. Your toes will be tapping for sure!

That was awesome! Wish I had the action on mine low enough to do something like that. Maybe when I change strings I can file down the bridge and nut pieces to allow it. That was a pretty cool vid!

You need a zero fret. ;) Uncle Semie would have done it!

I've got at least two more I want to build and one will be an electric cigar box guitar and that one I'll definetly try to make a zero fret on! I just didn't have the supplies or funding for something like that this second time around.
