Very Nice gplayer...A Martin is at the lonely top of acoustics, right? Educate me please on the strings; are they nylon or metal or hybrid (whatever that may mean)

Hey, gplayer--
Beautiful guitar!!! Mahogany backed?
I love the shaded-topped (as they call sunbursts) Martins.

Thanks all. I've been getting more into acoustic playing lately, since I don't jam with others, anymore
.
Paul, it has Phosphorous bronze coated steel strings.
Jim, it has an adirondack spruce top with mahogany back & sides. It really has a great sound and feel to it.

Aha, thanks... I bet they sound terrific

gplayer, would you say the acoustic guitar (with said phosphorous bronze coated steel strings) is harder to play than an electric (Mosrite, Fender, Hallmark, etc.)? A friend of mine has an acoustic (with the metal strings) and having played on it myself, found it very tiring after a while -but then his is not a Martin...

The Martin dreads come with 13-56 strings (med. gauge) If you're not use to them they can kill you fingers.
When I first got my HD-28, I switched to 11 1/2- 54 strings. then I moved up to 12-54 strings. Now the mediums don't bother me, anymore. A good setup is essential, as well. My fingers are pretty tough, now.
When I go back to my electrics it's almost comical how easy they are to play. The Martins just have a great sound. You hear all those old folk & mellow rock songs from the past, ringing in your head, when you play them.
