Re: Vox Bulldog Guitar
The Vox Guitar Organ's frets were segmented into six sections, but not all of the 21 frets were done this way. I can't remember but I think it was only the first 12 or 15 frets. The contacts replaced the keys of the organ, so if you pressed down the low E string at the 5th fret is sounded an A note, 7th fret a B, etc. The body was hollowed out to contain the note generator boards and was maybe 3 inches thick.
There also was a normal set of pickups so you could get regular guitar sounds as well as the organ tones. Because of the segmented frets, string bending was out of the question.
As for the Mosrite Vox connection, I thought that Thomas Organ became the distributor of Mosrite after the Ventures split. Some say that this deal is what eventually caused the final closing of the Mosrite company.

brutus wrote:Great post Sixstringer, do you have some photos of the Bulldog and any other Vox stuff? It would be great to see the Bulldog up close.
Thanks Brutus, unfortunatly the pics I posted are the only ones I have at this time. If I get some time in a few days, I will try and dig it out and clean it up and get some more shots. The only other Vox gear I have is a 2X12 100 watt Valvetronix, the newer one with the metal grill. I think the model off the top of my head is AD100V. I would like to change it to regular Vox grillcloth and piping for a more vintage look.... Last I looked, the Vox grillcloth is about 95.00 a yard.
