My Gretsch Anniversary

Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing the Fred and Joe Show at West LA Music. I've met Joe Carducci in the past but this was the first time I got to meet Fred Gretsch, his wife Dinah, and the Gretsch Girl, Kim Falcon. They are all very pleasant people and quite down to earth. I thought it would be cool to have them sign the pickguard of my Gretsch G6118 Annie. They were all very sweet and did it!

Very nice Sarah. Now, get another Pickguard to put on the guitar, and put
that one away,so as not to scratch off the Sigs while playing it

THAT'S what Bob Shade needs: A HALLMARK GIRL!!!
Being the noble and anything-for-a-pal kind of fellow that I am, I am willing to do the auditions for this important position, even though it will be a burden on my already busy schedule.
Since Kim Falcon already has taken the Bettie Page hairdo, we will have to come up with something else that is retro yet fetching.
Oh, the things I am willing to do for a friend.

Good on you, Sarah.
'Agree it's now time to replace the guard and stick that one in a frame.
How's that guitar play and sound? What kind of music and amp go well with it?

I love this guitar. It has TV Jones pickups which sound awesome. I play mostly Rockabilly and Country and it works very well for either. It certainly has the twang. I play through a Fender Blues Deluxe which is my #1 amp. It also sounds great through my Orange.
It is a very good playing guitar and on par with any from the pro lines at Gretsch. My Mosrite Celebrity is still better as far as playability with my hands and fingers. I can play a lot longer on the Celebrity, especially if I'm just using bar chords. I love both of these guitars equally.

he really is. I think Joe is the best thing to happen for Gretsch in quite a while. I'll be playing at the Gretsch Northern California Roundup in a couple of weeks and I plan on trying to get a picture of Fred Gretsch playing my Mosrite. That is a picture I'll frame for sure!!
