Tony Hunt Guitars

Postby dubtrub » Tue Jun 10, 2008 9:25 pm

Hey Desert Surfer,

I know you have a Hunt guitar and in the past was seeking information about it's builder Tony Hunt. If you have the new Ventures book, look on pages 246 through 248. You will find the answers to your questions about who Tony Hunt is and where is he currently located and what he is doing.

Isn't this forum great. ;)

Yes, I have read this part of book and pleased to know that Tony is doing well as of 2002 at least.

I wrote to Del, the author of the book and asked him a few months ago whether he had more updates about Tony. Del replied: "....When I interviewed Tony in June of 2002, the only personal information he volunteered was that he was 58 years old. Otherwise, he stuck to talking about guitars, Semie Moseley, and his health problem with the chemicals that forced him to change careers. It was more than enough to satisfy my needs for a Ventures book...."

Thanks, Danny for thinking of me. I have been away for a little "retreat". Also, I am moving my office / warehouse to a new location. I will be back when it is done.

Best regards to everyone,

Just in case no one here has heard this, Tony told me that all he did for his custom body was take the Mosrite body shape and flip it upside down. Yup, that's what he did, alrite.

Today stumbled upon this footage of DON WILSON switching to a Tony Hunt guitar after a string-break [1:21] on his Jazzmaster, during a live performance in Japan 1982. Nokie was already playing his Tony Hunt, so now TWO Tony Hunts simultaneously in action

Thanks, Veenture. This is truly a rare and nice find even though the camera work was not the greatest.

Those two Hunt guitars were the ones mentioned in Guitar Player Magazine. Nokie sold that particular Hunt guitar to Mr. Okamoto; the lead guitarist of Tokyo Ventures. He had another one which I am the lucky owner.

Nokie played this guitar with Terry Terauchi at one of their Japan concerts.

Hey Vincent, knowing you now own one of the Tony Hunts and wandering if you had ever seen this footage before I was hoping you would cop this and chime in, good show! ;)
