Re: Fender Duo Sonic
Hey gang, add Sarah to the list of the helpful, she sent me a scale pattern of the pickguard. I'm on my way. Now all I need is a lead on the proper beige (tan) color.

i'm trying to put it out of my mind and concentrate on Mosrites...!

Yep, +1 on what Kevin says. We want to see this puppy progress until the end. The body already is looking like a Duo-Sonic, dubtrub

Cool! I bought a strat body from Cooterfinger a while back - to replace the one on my Squier strat. Anxious to see this project take shape.

Re: Fender Duo Sonic
hey Danny,
I'm guessing you already know this, but I'm gonna throw this out there anyway. the original mustangs came in only popular or mahogany and did not have the belly contour. my guess is that the original D-S's were similar, in that there was no belly contour. Guessing here, but not sure.

these websites doesn't give any info on the color you are looking for Danny, but maybe it'll help in your search. If not it's still a good read of those early finishes. Wish I could help you out, you sure have been there for me. Good Luck Man!

Re: Fender Duo Sonic
It's still sitting on my workbench waiting for me to get after it again. Too many irons in the fire right now and that is low priority. That's why I would not build guitars for customers. I work at my own (when I get around to it) pace.

I would really like to do the original tan with the pinkish hue to it but I'm running into a stone wall trying to find anything ready made that is close to it. I have learned that the 'Desert Sand' on the very early models is a different color than the 'Tan' one I had in 59-60. The one I had was exactly like the one in the photo's on the previous pages.
I have started working on the neck today.
