On impulse bought this hollowbody

veenture--Rickenbacker used horseshoe-magnet pickups in the bridge position on Combo 600's and 800's starting in '54 or so. They were in the price lists at least through the late-'60's, but it's doubtful that any were made after about '61. The horseshoe magnets go over the strings like on the early Rickenbacker bass pickup, and since the guitar pickup was right next to the bridge, the "handrest" formed by the magnets made it difficult, if not impossible, to mute the strings with the picking hand. A good-sounding pickup, though--basically the same as what Rickenbacker used on steel guitars since 1931.

Well I got my Greco Shrike yesterday. Love the guitar!!! it's so funky. It's in amazing shape with just a little play wear on the finish of the neck near the headstock. Otherwise the finish everywhere else is in great shape. Semi hollow body with a zero fret and a bound body and neck. The headstock shape, semi hollow body and the way the top is carved for the tremelo reminds me of a Rickenbacker. Beveled German carve -ish top, with the same tuners as the Teisco Spectrum 5. I think I've read that Semi may have use these type tuners in the 70's ??? Maybe someone can chime in on whether that's true or not. Anyway, I'm happy with the purchase. I have posted some pics of the guitar I took today. Oh.... the pickups sound pretty good too.
