I want to thank everyone for there kind words. I have had a great time building this guitar as well as the Tele style guitar. This started out as a BYO kit. I read a lot of reviews and some were bad and some were good. This one at least was IMO a great starting point. The neck is straight, all the binding on both the neck and body was great with no filler around it. The neck needed some minor work to fit into the pocket on the body as far as cleaning up the edges where it met the body for a snug fit and making sure it ran true to the bridge post holes.
The hardware is for the most part what came with it. I will be getting a new bridge at some point but I'm not sure just what I want right now. The pickups are what came with the kit but don't sound half bad. The neck measures out at 10.5k and the bridge at 11.5k. I have a Les Paul Custom Custom shop model here so I will see how close it sounds to my build. LOL I did change out all the electrical parts. I put in a switchcraft switch and CTS pots and higher grade of shielded wiring.
The finish is Lacquer and I used some Magic Maple Stock Stain to help highlight the curly maple wood and mixed up a shade of brown to try to match a picture of a 25/50 model I have and I'm happy with what I came up with.
I have been working on this for a little over 2 months now and will play it out soon. As far as scratch building I would love to give it a try but I don't have all the equipment I would need. I also don't have a garage to put it in and my wife won't let me put it in the house. LOL
The only thing that could be better as far as what I got is the fret work. That needed a lot of work to get it in good playing condition. In another 6 months or so I will give it another going over and it should be even better playing. I want to make sure that everything settled down so there wont be any changes in the wood.
As for my painting skills, I have worked in the automotive refinishing field for over 30 years and also as a paint rep. for a major automotive paint co. I have sprayed everything out there beginning back in 1967.My father owned a body shop that I became a partner in when I got out of the service.

Wow , this must be the longest post I have ever made. LOL

Wow, I wouldn't have known that was a kit! You did a great job on the finish.
