Wanted: Vintage Mosrite Mk. I (Refin)

I'm looking for a Vintage Mosrite Mark I made in the years 1965 through 1968 that has been refinished and has a 4 bolt neck. Everything else other than the finish (And perhaps the tuners) has to be original.

My search goes on. As I was Googling and searching websites I came across a refinished Mosrite Mark I at a store in New York City. However, It's priced awfully high for a refinished Mosrite guitar! I may contact this dealer and make an offer.

Unlike a vintage Fender that's been refinished, I don't think your going to find a big difference in price range if it is a professional refin back to original specs, unless it's a rare collector piece.

I've played that guitar and it sounds quite nice. I don't remember details about originality, other than the refin. Dan from Chelsea Guitars is a New York institution in and of himself, but that doesn't mean that prices will make any sense. But give him a call and see what they'll do, you know?

If you are referring to the lower horn rout, my '66 is shaped the same way. This is the photo when it was listed for sale before I put it back the electronics to it's original configuration.

That's EXACTLY what I was referring to Danny

. I can't ever recall seeing one before.
Obviously they are out there, but the only ones that I've seen like that are the Hallmarks.

The Japanese Vintage Mosrite book has some good photo's depicting four different version of the lower horn rout used during the 60s. One of them are down right ugly with the lower horn rout flattened out almost up to the pickguard with just the peek of the carve showing.

Yep, I here ya. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out a way in telling the wife that I want
to buy an old Book that's written in Japanese, and it will only cost $600 or so ..........

This aspect has been touched on before on the Forum -fairly recently somewhere ...but where?

It made me respect my H60C even more...
Back to 101volts' V1. Yes, that refin looks really smart but for me a refin would have to be in the original finish or otherwise SUNBURST!

Good luck Austin.
