Some of the Excellents I've seen have Mosrite stamped Klusons and SJB does say it's a reissue. The vintage Mosrite knobs he mentions may have been added on as Ecxellent's knobs are close but have no stamped numbers.

What can I say, you guys have me pegged!
Seriously, I think it's a testament to how utterly impressed I was by these guitars at NAMM. I would still like to order a new US-made model in Pepto-Bismol Pink at some point - in fact, I called Front Porch several times today to inquire but consistently got a busy signal?
Anyway, the Japanese and the US instruments were extremely close in sound and feel, and Dana was singing their praises as well. I'm sure this instrument will do much more than "hold me over" 'till I get the one I really want.

Hey guys, seller sent me a few more photos. He couldn't find a serial number. What's the skinny on this one?

Well, it's Japanese, but it's not the same brand (Fillmore) as the one you checked out at NAMM. I know there are some Excellent owners on here, so maybe they'll chime in. It might also be a help for you to search past posts for info on Kurokumo versus Fillmore.

I had a Kurokumo Ventures "Excellent" guitar - very nice guitar. Fritz here on the forum owns it now. Mine didn't have a serial number either, so don't let that worry you. Am I seeing correctly that this one has white plastic tuning pegs? That's not something I've seen before.
